Import Permits
May be obtained by the accredited veterinarian issuing the Certificate of Veterinary Inspection and written on the CVI.
OR
Issued on an annual basis, running from September 1 through August 31, to NPIP participants that have completed the SD AIB permit application for importation of poultry and hatching eggs into SD. The Import Permit number is to be placed on shipping labels or invoices and on NPIP Form VS 9-3.
Poultry:(Domestic & Non-Domestic Live) and Hatching Eggs.
- Certificate of Veterinary Inspection or VS form 9-3.
- Import permit number. Import permits are valid for 15 days.
- Free of infectious, contagious diseases.
- PULLORUM tested (within 30 days of entry); or originate from a Pullorum free state; or Pullorum free flock.
Ratites:(Exotic Fowl with flat Breast-Bone & Small or Non-Existent Wings: Ostrich, Emu, Rheas, Kiwi).
- Certificate of Veterinary Inspection and permit number. Import permits are valid for 15 days.
- Permanent ID (tattoo or microchip) listed on the CVI.
- Free of infectious, contagious diseases.
- PULLORUM tested (within 30 days of entry); or originate from a Pullorum free state; or Pullorum free flock.
- AVIAN INFLUENZA: Negative test within 10 days prior to entry.
Psittacine Birds:(Parrots, pet birds, etc.) OR Birds of Prey:(Falcons, Owls, etc.)
- Certificate of Veterinary Inspection and permit number. Import permits are valid for 15 days.
- Permanent ID (tattoo, leg band, or microchip) listed on the CVI.
- Free of infectious, contagious diseases.
- PULLORUM tested (within 30 days of entry); or originate from a Pullorum free state; or Pullorum free flock.
